The stages in Faaborg
The Archipelago Trail runs from the village of Faldsled in the west, over the hills of Svanninge Bakker and Svanninge Bjerge, with a detour to Faaborg via Sundbakkerne and onwards to Fjællebroen Marina. You can pick up printed map no. 1 at the local tourist offices.
The Sundbakkerne and Sundsøen Exercise Trail
The Sundsøen–Kaleko trail has been named Denmark’s best exercise route, and you’ll meet it near Faaborg when the Archipelago Trail leads you through the rolling Sundbakkerne north of town. It’s a beautiful and varied stretch that adds an extra layer of experience to your hike.
Kaleko Mill
On this section, you’ll pass Kaleko Mill — Denmark’s oldest preserved watermill and a charming piece of cultural history set right in the landscape. The mill is known from the first Nissebanden Christmas TV series from 1984 and makes for a lovely stop where history feels close.
